Workshops
Arts + Business Partners (ABP) offers a variety of workshops (in person and virtual) geared towards collectors, photographers and anyone interested in learning more about the fine art photography marketplace.
Our workshop options range from a 5-session collecting ‘bootcamp’, to an intensive branding workshop for photographers looking to break into the marketplace, to a 2-hour seminar diving “Inside the Collector’s Mind” or exploring "How to Find a Gallery for Your Work." Each is its own master class.
Taught by Alice Sachs Zimet, an educator, collector and advisor active in the field for 35+ years and who has amassed a collection of nearly 350 photographs from 20th Century masters to the present. Zimet’s expertise and passion for fine art photography has engaged roughly 800 students from across Europe, Asia and the United States.
Current workshops are offered with Christie’s Education, Swann Auction Galleries, the International Center of Photography, Maine Media Workshops + College, the Los Angeles Center of Photography, among others.

Making Work… Now What? How to Break Into the Art World
2-Part / 2-Day Series
Time: 11 - 6 pm EST
Date: 2 Saturdays, February 4 + 11, 2023
Fee: $450
This 2-part virtual course teaches photographers how to break into the photography market, as well as how to better communicate about their work – whether talking to a dealer, collector or at a portfolio review. We offer advice on how to find a gallery, and insider tips on what to do –and what not to do. We’ll talk about online platforms, benefit auctions, and offer abundant tips on how to best present at a portfolio review. Finally, because how you talk about your work is almost as important as making it, we’ll teach you how to write and speak about your photographs, including a peer-critique presentation.

Inside the Collector's Mind
2-Hour Session
Time: 5 - 7 pm EST
Date: Tuesday, February 7, 2023
Fee: $150
Join us virtually as we go inside the collector’s mind! Serving as the Chair of the Acquisition Committee at both the Harvard Art Museums and the International Center of Photography, Alice Sachs Zimet began collecting photography in 1985 and has amassed a collection of over 300 museum-quality images. How did that journey begin, what was the impetus to buy her first piece, and what goes into the collector’s decision-making process? No matter what level, collectors will gain insight into the world of fine art photography from a pioneer collector. Photographers will better understand the collector perspective and receive tips to advance their own practice in order to get collected.
