What makes you unique
?
Three things. First, I have worked in the nonprofit and for-profit
world.
Second, while working at Chase, I figured out how to do good in
the community - and generate millions of dollars using the arts
as a marketing tool.
Finally, I'm a corporate "insider" who's read thousands of proposals
and managed millions of donor dollars. I know what makes the corporate
world tick - how to present a strong case for support and I speak
the corporate language.
What are your best skills ?
Deal making. Team building. Creative problem solving. And, I'm a
comfortable public speaker who can motivate a crowd.
Whom do you most admire ?
Martha Graham, a pioneer in the world of modern dance who broke
through barriers.
How do you generate business using arts ?
Creatively! One event cost less than $25,000 and generated $20 million
in new assets under management from 16 prospects in 10 weeks. Not
a bad return!
You're on a desert island. What single song would
you bring ?
Rolling Stones "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
Give me a proud moment, or two
For the US Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, I secured Gucci as the
first non-American sponsor. I repackaged the materials and negotiated
a creative deal. And, Gucci won accolades in the press and for its
VIP client events.
American Photo Magazine voted me #68 of the "100 most important
people in photography in the United States. " Princess Diana
was #1 -- but I beat Richard Gere who ranked #100.
Finally, I am on the Collections Committee of the Harvard University
Art Museums. I'm most proud of that.
The telephone rings. It's the perfect client assignment.
What is it ?
"Alice, would you go to Paris for a month and research fabulous
cultural properties to help us better penetrate the French market."
What can't you live without ?
Frequent flier miles.
What frustrates you most ?
Making the same mistakes in French since I've been 16 years old.
